Accelerator for Shifting Gender Norms through Education

With more than five decades of experience in Colombia, FUNDAEC works to strengthen education and support community transformation processes, convinced that learning can open up new opportunities and become a driver of social change.

Today, this legacy is part of the ShiftED Alliance: Accelerator for Shifting Gender Norms through Education, an international alliance of organizations from Africa, Asia, and Latin America that seeks to transform gender norms and relationships through education, especially among adolescents and young people.

The initiative is rooted in a fundamental conviction: education can transform the ideas and norms that shape the aspirations, relationships, participation, safety, well-being, and opportunities of new generations.

Within this framework, the alliance is developing a global process to understand how adolescents perceive gender roles and norms in their daily lives, generating evidence that will enable the design of transformation strategies relevant to different cultural and linguistic contexts.

FUNDAEC is one of 12 organizations selected worldwide to lead this initiative, helping to validate a multilingual and cross-cultural survey that will reach 25,000 adolescents.

This partnership aims to generate evidence, build capacity, and pave the way toward more equitable relationships and sustainable change through education.
