How could one event ever capture the profound meaning of 50 years of FUNDAEC—five decades of shared effort, learning, and transformation alongside countless communities? The answer soon became clear: we could not celebrate this milestone alone.
Guided by one of our most cherished principles—a steadfast belief in the capacity of every person to shape their own development and contribute to the betterment of society—we knew the celebration had to center around a single, powerful word: participation.
With this spirit, we turned to the very communities where our programs have taken root and asked a simple question: “How would you like to celebrate these 50 years?”
The response was extraordinary. Across Colombia, communities eagerly took the lead, organizing their own local festivities. To date, 20 celebrations have been held in diverse regions, bringing together more than 2,300 participants. Each gathering was a vibrant expression of love, commitment, and creativity—a living testimony to the enduring bonds that have grown between FUNDAEC and the people it has served for half a century.
