Weavers of Stories: CRISTIAN

My name is Cristian, I am 25 years old, and I currently live in Riofrío, Valle del Cauca, a place I consider my home and the setting for many of my dreams and learnings. I am in my tenth semester of Social Work, a field of study that reflects my passion for social well being. My family, made up of my father, a dedicated electrician, my mother, a fundamental pillar in my life, and my younger sister, who is in eleventh grade, has been my greatest support throughout this journey.

My relationship with FUNDAEC began in 2016, when I became familiar with the Preparación para la Acción Social program, known as PAS. I was drawn to its innovative approach, which not only strengthened my academic path but also reinforced my relationship with my family. During my participation in the program, I faced challenges that led me to doubt my abilities. However, the support of my mentors and my mother was essential in helping me decide to move forward and complete my training.

In 2018, I graduated from the PAS program and later became a tutor and coordinator of the program in Tuluá. I also completed the Technical Program in Social and Community Management, along with other courses that strengthened my professional skills. I received support from the Solidarity Fund of the Community Leaders Support Program, which made it possible for me to finance my studies.

FUNDAEC has transformed my life by instilling values such as love and service. I dream of a community where holistic education is the central axis, promoting a culture of collaboration and service. I envision young people taking on active roles and working in coordination with local institutions to foster collective well being.

For me, FUNDAEC represents love in its fullest expression. It is a kind of love that inspires service, growth, and contribution to the well being of others. Thanks to FUNDAEC, I have had the opportunity to meet wonderful people and to become involved in projects that have left a positive mark on my life.

Today, my work with FUNDAEC allows me to live in alignment with my purpose, which is to contribute to the development of my community. I am deeply grateful for every lesson learned, every challenge overcome, and every opportunity that has allowed me to become better and, above all, useful to those around me.
