TEACHER TRAINING

Building on decades of experience in preparing educators, FUNDAEC and its Centro Universitario de Bienestar Rural—which has already trained more than 1,000 teachers in Colombia—have embarked on a process of reviewing, systematizing, and refining their educational texts. The aim is to share key insights with educators in diverse contexts and strengthen teaching practices worldwide.

To advance this vision, FUNDAEC is incorporating the experience developed by Kimanya through its Learning to Learn program, which is based on FUNDAEC’s educational materials.

Structured into three modules, the program draws on FUNDAEC’s own educational texts as well as materials from the Preparation for Social Action (PSA) program. Originally developed in Uganda by the Fundación Kimanya-Ngeyo,

this approach has demonstrated remarkable impact, transforming pedagogical practices by fostering active learning, critical reflection, and a deeper commitment to social engagement among educators.

The program helps teachers to:

    • Exercise greater autonomy in their pedagogical decisions.

    • Align their practice with a vision of education that nurtures both intellectual growth and spiritual development.

    • Adopt a scientific mindset, enabling them to reflect, adapt, and continually improve their teaching.

Participate in communities of practice that generate and share knowledge, enriching education at both local and global levels.

Each module combines study, experimentation, and classroom application, with dedicated spaces for reflection. This process enables teachers to move beyond rote memorization and embrace an approach that promotes deep understanding, meaningful connection with community life, and the development of capacities that contribute to social transformation.

Today, with growing international interest, a global network of collaborators is emerging to accompany new organizations in implementing the program—ensuring contextual adaptation, relevance, and long-term sustainability.
